BLUEPRINT · LEGAL / ACCEPTABLE USE
Acceptable Use Policy
This document has not yet been reviewed by counsel and is not legal advice.
It is drafted from a standard template and states how we actually intend to act. Questions: codeblackwell@gmail.com.
This policy is short on purpose. mAiSight is a reading layer for technical documentation, and almost nothing here will ever come up for a normal customer. It exists so that when something does come up, the answer was written down in advance.
1. Scope
This policy applies to everyone using the Service, on any tier, including free and trial. It is part of the Terms of Service. "Content" means anything you ingest, publish, or place our widget on.
2. What you may not do
Illegal and harmful content
- Publish, or place our widget on, content that is illegal where you or your readers are.
- Use the Service in connection with content that incites or promotes violence, terrorism, or harm against people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
- Use it in connection with child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, or content that sexualizes minors. There is no notice period for this one.
- Use it to harass, threaten, defame, or dox a specific person.
Deception and fraud
- Impersonate another organization, or present mAiSight-generated definitions as the authoritative statement of a party who did not write them.
- Run phishing, scams, malware distribution, or fake storefronts.
- Publish deliberately false definitions of terms in a way designed to mislead readers about a product's safety, legal status, or financial terms.
Rights of others
- Ingest documentation you do not have the right to process — including another party's copyrighted material, licensed material outside the licence terms, or trade secrets you were not given.
- Submit personal data, special-category data, health records, payment card data, or government identifiers as document content. The Service is not designed for it and we do not want it.
Technical abuse
- Probe, scan, or attack the Service or its infrastructure, or attempt to reach another customer's data. Good-faith security research is welcome — see the security page for how to do it without breaching this clause.
- Circumvent tier limits, licence checks, domain restrictions, or the badge requirement on the free tier.
- Resell, sublicense, or white-label the Service without a written agreement.
- Deliberately overload the Service, including automated ingestion designed to consume capacity rather than to publish documentation.
- Use the Service to build a competing product by systematically extracting its output.
3. Third-party sites
You may place the widget only on domains you own or are authorized to modify. Deploying it on someone else's site without permission is a breach of this policy regardless of how technically easy it is.
4. Enforcement
We would rather email you than switch anything off. In practice:
- Ordinary breach — we contact you, describe the problem, and give you a reasonable window to fix it.
- Serious or repeated breach — we may suspend the affected documents or the account, with notice where circumstances allow.
- Immediate, severe harm — for material in the first section above, or an active attack on the Service, we may suspend immediately and notify afterwards.
Suspension for breach does not entitle you to a refund of the current term. If we suspend you and you think we got it wrong, reply and say so; a person reads it.
5. Reporting
To report content or a deployment that violates this policy, email codeblackwell@gmail.com with the URL and what you believe is wrong with it. We aim to acknowledge within three business days.
6. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes get at least 30 days' notice, except where a change is needed immediately to address an unlawful or harmful use.
